Shirk’s Supporters

Our very dear friend Meredith is 31 years old and was diagnosed with Stage 2 Hormone Positive Breast Cancer this past October.  For those of you who know her, you know that she is an extraordinary human being. She is cheerful, loving, unbelievably strong and always puts her daughter, family,  friends, and students before herself. 

She started chemotherapy in early November and will have a total of eight rounds, lasting four months. She will undergo surgery once chemo is completed to remove the tumor, followed by seven weeks of radiation, and hormone therapy lasting  at least five years.   

Because of this, she is missing several days of work every other week, and in the spring will miss a potential to 2-6 weeks for surgery.  Meredith does not qualify for Short Term Disability, so come Feb/March her pay will be affected. Some of her medical expenses are not covered and with the everyday necessities of life raising Audrey Gene, money is getting tighter and tighter.  

Meredith is one of the strongest, most selfless people I have ever known and is always there to give her love and support or the shirt off her back to anyone that needs it. So much so, that as a Social Studies teacher at River Bluff, Meredith is continuously helping her students and being a rockstar teacher day in and day out, as well as supporting her fellow teachers in any way she can. 

Meredith has a 5 year old daughter, Audrey Gene, who has been a trooper through all of this. Meredith has primary custody of AG and is kicking cancer’s butt while continuing ALL mom duties throughout the week and most weekends. 

Now, it's time that we send back some of that love and support to Meredith.  Anything you can donate will be truly appreciated. These donations will be used to help Meredith pay for groceries, medical bills, utilities, etc.  Everything we can do to help and surround her with love is what is most important so she can focus on beating this thing.
