Hello West Village friends,
Social distancing and a community-focused cafe like Merriweather, do not mix well together. But the health of our staff and our community has to be our only priority right now. So our beloved cafe has made the critical decision to temporarily shut our doors, to help flatten the curve in accordance with all expert guidance.
The choice to temporarily stop operations comes with tremendous costs. And it is our amazing baristas and cooks, many who live pay check to pay check as they support themselves and their families, who are among the most economically impacted in the city. So we now look towards one another to help lift up those who’s lives are impacted as business comes to a standstill.
In an effort to continue to support our staff and their families in these difficult times, we are raising money to help offset our staff’s lost income. 100% of proceeds raised will be donated directly to our staff.
Merriweather is a business built by our passion for community. We know Merriweather has become the heart and soul of the West Village for so many, and the personal connection from our staff is the key to its magic, it is the backbone of our operation. Any contribution will be helpful given the time frame is so indefinite. Even the slightest donation adds a layer of security in uncertain times. We eagerly anticipate the day we reopen our doors and resume service as before, until then be safe and let’s all do our part to overcome this virus.
You can also donate through our Venmo if it is easier:
