MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM YOSEMITE - EVICTION NOTICE
Donation protected
My spouse and I are part of a group of 13 people who work in Yosemite and live in the El Portal Trailer Park, just outside of the entrance to Yosemite National Park on highway 140, and we really need your help! On December 13, 2021, we received a stunner of a Christmas present from the National Park Service (NPS) Superintendent in the form of a Notice of Eviction, ordering us out of our homes before midnight on March 13, 2022, and without any compensation for our mobile homes which we must leave behind. We were too late to stop the physical eviction on March 13, but we continue to hope that gofundme will help us put enough money together to pay for legal services to claim benefits due to us as displaced people under the Federal Relocation Assistance Program.
We are not wealthy people by any means. We represent a core group of Yosemite employees having worked in front line and back of the house positions for 10, 20, 30 and 40+ years. We have lived simple lives, raised our families and paid our taxes. We've endured fire, flood and rockfall to work in full time, year-round positions, serving untold millions of visitors to Yosemite. We are the front line workers, so recently touted as heros, almost all of whom have continued to work through the covid pandemic to serve visitors who continue to visit Yosemite.
We are not asking for much from the National Park Service; just some time to make good, workable decisions about housing and our futures, and for benefits due to us under the Federal Relocation Assistance Program.
We appreciate your interest in our plight and sincerely thank you for your help.
