"My name is La'Mesha Johnson, I’m 31 and I have 2 energetic boys (2 and 3). I find myself on a journey I never anticipated, one that tests the limits of my strength, hope, and the financial stability of my family. I’ve been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a reality that has turned my world upside down. Today, I reach out not just for myself, but for my family, with a heart full of hope, asking for your compassion and support.

Just a few months ago, I was living my life devoted to my family, working hard to ensure their happiness and well-being. Then, unexpected symptoms and a subsequent diagnosis halted everything. Hodgkin’s lymphoma—a term that felt so foreign yet became incredibly personal in an instant. The diagnosis brought fears, uncertainties, and a profound worry for the future.

The battle I face is not just against cancer, but against the overwhelming costs of treatment, alongside the everyday expenses that don’t pause for illness. Chemotherapy (ABVD), necessary medications, and the potential for further treatments loom large, while the financial burden they bring grows heavier each day. With a heart heavy with worry for my children, I’ve had to make difficult choices, prioritizing medical expenses over basic needs, all while striving to maintain a semblance of normalcy for my family.

As a mother, my greatest fear is not for myself, but for my children. The possibility of them facing this world without the care and protection they deserve keeps me awake at night. Every decision, every sacrifice, is for them. Yet, despite cutting back on every conceivable expense, the financial strain of medical bills, coupled with the cost of childcare, is a tide we can barely hold back.
