FUNDS RAISED - THANKYOU!!!

Our community is a place made up of many cultures and many faiths. It is rich because of it's diverse history and community. It is a place that had its heart broken on the day of the Christchurch shootings.

Jacinda Ardern led the world after the shootings. Her complete embrace of the islamic community, and in fact of all New Zealanders as part of a whole that can never be divided by hate, has been both beautiful and powerful to witness.

The image of Jacinda hugging a muslim woman has become a beacon of tolerance, love and peace in these divisive times.

We want this message, this moment in time, remembered. We want to learn from it, we want it to hold us up, to strengthen us. We want everyone to know we are them, that they are us and, that we are, and always will be, stronger together.

We have invited the renowned street artist, Loretta Lizzio to come to Melbourne to paint the Tinning street silos. The silos stand 75 feet tall and are a singular landmark on the Brunswick skyline.

Loretta has agreed to donate her time to paint an image of unity, an image of hope, and an image of peace on these massive silos.

We need to raise enough money to fly her, her baby and her partner here, provide them with accommodation and food for the ten days it will take  for the painting. We will also need to fund the hire of the cherry picker and additional equipment Loretta will need to paint the silos.

Lizzio is a visionary artist, a woman of strength and creative ambition.
Her large scale works can be found on walls all over the world, from London to Vancouver and Melbourne. We're incredibly lucky to have her.

We need to raise $11,000  to make this incredible, beautiful thing happen. If we raise more than this we will send it straight to the families of the victims of the Christchurch shootings via the Christchurch Shooting Victims' Fund.

If we can raise the money by May 5. Loretta intends to have the work complete by May 30.

Please help us do something good.

We would like to thank the generous support of the following organisations:
The City of Moreland: Logistical support from many departments.
Breathe Architecture: Project management.
The Coburg Islamic Centre: Consultation and translation.
Taubmans: Brushes, rollers and low VOC water based paints.
BREC Electrical: Installation of LED flood lighting and night timers.

A special thank you goes out to the silo owner, a hard working local:
He not only gave permission for us to paint his silos but has also offered to pay for the power to light the silos.
