Messenger Recovery- Do To Motorcycle Accident
Donation protected
Hi my name is Jadyan, as you may know my dad Michael Messenger was involved in a motorcycle vs deer accident on July 3rd.
He was at University of Missouri for about 3 days. In very bad condition with head to toe abrasions, broken left shoulder blade, collarbone, cheekbone, 9 ribs & a damaged occipital lobe. He also has a small bleed in his left temporal lobe.
Surgery was ruled as not necessary meaning everything will painfully heal on its own. On July 6th he was doing well per the severity of his injuries. Walked to and from the shower room, tolerated the shower, was taken off O2 & fluids! He was discharged from UOM.
He was transferred to Hannibal Regional Hospital Rehabilitation Center the morning of July 7th. He was doing better! Started rehab on Saturday July 8th, although he was still having significant pain and discomfort. We were seeing some progress..
On July 9th he had a severe headache all day. They took him for a CT scan and found swelling of the brain and fluid pockets. He had elevated blood pressure and is still having headaches. He was monitored & watched for any changes.
July 10th-11th he felt better, still in pain per his injuries but no longer having severe headaches.
He is to be released tomorrow July 12th to go home with very strict restrictions and monitoring pending his condition in the morning!
Dana (his wife) is by his side as much as possible but unfortunately is missing work during the time she is there, leaving them with a little source of income. Dad has at least 12 weeks of recovery putting him out of work as well.
I have made this due to all of the messages/phone calls, etc with all of the amazing people wanting to help during this tragic time. We thought that this would be the easiest way! All donations will go to medical bills, unexpected expenses, travels to doctor appointments, repairs, etc..
My dads bike was also totaled in the accident. The bike he had gotten just 10 days before his tragic accident. He was so excited about getting his new bike and unfortunately it was taken from him way too soon! We are hoping to put some money towards his bike to help him to get it out of storage as well as with the cost of repairs or any other expenses that insurance will not cover.
We will keep everyone updated as much as possible.
Please understand that we can not answer the phone multiple times throughout the day with text messages and phones calls. We appreciate all of you reaching out and keeping our family in your prayers!
