Sommarmusik i äldreomsorgen

I denna speciella tid vill vi sprida glädje genom musiken för dom äldre. Vi är två musiker med lång erfarenhet i äldreomsorgen, både i själva vården och med musik och aktiviteter. Vi vet hur mycket en musikstund kan betyda för många av dem som bor där.  

Nu råder besöksförbud sedan mars, alla aktiviteter är inställda, ingen trodde det skulle pågå såhär länge, och till hösten vet vi inte hur det blir.  

Men NU, i sommarvärmen, är det möjligt att stå utanför boenden, i parker och under balkonger, och göra musik.  

De flesta äldreboenden har hårt pressade budgetar till följd av corona, och har inte råd att betala ett gage som går att leva på. Så våran strategi är att spela ändå, och försöka få till mat och hyra på annat sätt. Genom denna insamling till exempel.

Vi är redan igång och spelar, vi har investerat i en bra batteridriven högtalaranläggning och vi har avsatt hela juli och augusti för detta. Med något slags fortsättning i höst, på de sätt som är möjliga då.

Summer Music for the Elderly

In these special times, we want to spread some joy through music for people living in Retirement Homes. We are two musicians with long experience of working with care for the elderly, both as health professionals and as musicians. We know how much Music can mean to people.  

Since March there are now all sorts of restrictions for the elderly: they cannot move around freely, not meet their loved ones, most activities are cancelled. No-one thought corona would last this long, and no-one knows what awaits in the autumn.

But NOW, in the warmth of the summer, it is possible to make music outdoors. On pavements, in gardens and parks, under windows and balconies.  

Most Retirement Homes have already widely exeeded their budgets to cope with corona. More often than not, they have to say no to music if payment is required.

So, our strategy is to make the music anyway, and try to fix funding in other ways. This way, for example.

But summer is NOW. We can´t wait till the funding is fixed. So, we have started already. Invested in a really good portable sound system, assigned all of July and August for the project, hoping to continue in the autumn in ways that will be possible then.

In times like these, Music is more important than ever.
