It is with a heavy heart that I update this post to advise that Dale has passed from the injuries he sustained from the senseless assault on him.

On Monday September 23, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., our normally very quiet and safe street, became an area of a brutal assault on one of our neighbours. Most of us in this area have lived here for over 20 years and we have enjoyed the peace and safety of living in rural Ottawa.

The victim's wife, a self-employed daycare provider, has provided care to almost all of our (now adult) children. Her husband, well known for always being there to lend a helping hand, help fix anything that needs fixing, or just to chat and have a beer with. This incident has sent a wave shock through our community and has left us all asking how an incident such as this could happen? Leaving your house to travel to an appointment, only to be assaulted in a violent manner.

The unknown has now settled on their family. I am reaching out to our wonderful community, in the hopes that we can raise some money to help ease the stress of any financial burdens.

I have not provided the family name at this time in order to give them time to try and deal with this unimaginable event that has fallen on their family, as they deal with not knowing what the future will hold. The victim remains in the hospital at this time.
