Miami Elite AAU Junior Olympics
Donation protected
Miami Elite is a competitive youth running team that was started in the fall of 2009. We have had a great season so far and hope to compete at the AAU Junior Olympics in Houston, Texas, throughout the first week of August.
This track season has been one of the best in our program’s history. At the Middle School State Championships in May, 19 athletes qualified to compete with the state’s best. We returned with 23 medals, including 6 gold and 6 silver. We also set state records in the girls’ 1500 meter race and the girls’ 4x800 meter relay. As a team, our girls came second overall, missing the state team title by only two points.
Earlier this July, our team competed at the AAU National Club Championships as final preparation for the Junior Olympics in August. We had many outstanding performances, including one individual national champion, two individual national runner-ups, and one national champion relay team. In addition, we had six other medalists. Furthermore, our girls team won the national team title for the 14-year old age division, the first national team title in our program’s history.
Although our team has been to many competitions throughout the state of Florida, we need help covering some of the families' costs to compete out of state at the Junior Olympics. Without additional funds, not all of our athletes will have the chance to compete for a Junior Olympic title. Donations will be used to help cover the costs of flights, transportation, and hotels for 15 athletes. Your help, regardless of the amount donated, will be greatly appreciated by our coaching staff, athletes, and their families.
