Metro South West Group

We are the Metro South West Group of 0ver 40 Residents Association in South West Dublin. Our Residents run from Harolds Cross right out to South Tallaght. We have been campaigning for the last Four years for the proposed Metro to be extended from City Centre out through the South West Suburbs to connect with the Red Luas at Tallaght.

We are at a critical point in our campaign with the start of the Oral hearings this month before An Bord Pleanala. We will be making our case very strongly for Metro to be continued from Stephen’s Green to the South West Suburbs and not park the Tunnelling Machine under Ranelagh for some unknown time. We need your financial help at this point to help us fund the Expert Consultant we have engaged. This expert is costing between 25-30000. We need the expert and we need your support financially.

Over the last four years, we were successful in getting the program for Government to include a feasibility study to the South West. We had further meetings with Minister Ryan to push for this promise to be acted upon. We have cross party support, throughout the area, from Councillors, TD’s, and Senators. As a result, the National Transport Authority (NTA) appointed Jacobs International to conduct the feasibility study. However, they only did City Centre to Knocklyon, neglecting the big attractor of Tallaght with Hospital, University, The Square and many businesses. There were also many other flaws in the study.
