Scotty is my best friend's husband and a good friend to me. I hate not being able to help financially, so I thought this would suffice. They're always helping others with no expectation of receiving anything in return. It's time they get the help they need.
Scott was diagnosed with Crohn's disease when he was ten. It's an auto-immune disorder largely affecting the small intestine – which often presents itself as a source of excruciating chronic pain, lethargy, anemia, diarrhea and other bothersome symptoms. As he gets older his illness has gotten worse. This last year has been especially trying on him and his family. He hasn't reached a full remission in years which means his daily life is interrupted with pain, nausea and side effects from different medications. On top of this he also has osteoporosis and debilitating arthritis. He's been in and out of doctor appointments trying to find a way to control the flare ups. He's been too sick to work- yet he still does. Recently he jumped on the opportunity to work in Michigan to be closer to family.
They've been back for a month now, While in the transition of moving Scott has been staying at a RV park and working while his wife and daughter make the 3 hour commute periodically to search for a home- which they still haven't found. Their health insurance hasn't kicked in yet and they've fallen on some trying times.
Scott is having issues with his Crohn's disease and has been in the hospital for 5 days now. He had a procedure done and encountered complications then had to undergo a minor surgery. He is he in a lot of pain and discomfort- it's emotionally taking a toll on his family. His wife has been taking care of him in the hospital while their daughter is staying 3 hours away with her grandmother. They're hoping Scott gets discharged tomorrow and can possibally make the trip to be together as a family while he recuperates. Normally it takes two weeks to a month for healing. Since his Crohn's is so bad he encountered some issues with surgery and it will take him a month or longer. There is always a chance of complications and a risk for infection because of his current condition.
Scotty has had to deal with this disease for almost his whole life. He is a wonderful person, husband and father. He doesn’t complain nor does he let his disease limit himself when it comes to his family. He is selfless, works hard, is the backbone of their family a great example of perseverance. His strength is indescribable.
This is such a loving, giving family and many who know this firsthand feel that it is unacceptable that they should have to go through this hardship alone. They need all the help they can get; with the hospital bills, prescriptions, medical supplies, food and gas costs. Prayers and good vibes are appreciated. They are the type of people to not ask for help and instead are always helping anyone they can.
