Empowering People With Stability
Donation protected
The Missouri Guardianship Association (MGA) is a unique full service nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering guardians and their wards with the stability they need to live in and operate safe, healthy, and responsible guardianships, though the innovative, ambitious, and holistic services, programs we are developing. Moreover, the MGA is dedicated to identifying risk factors for and reducing incidents of guardians and wards being abused, neglected, and exploited such as what is shown in the pie charts below. The MGA is unique because in Missouri, there is no other entity, association, organization, or group existing like the MGA. The MGA is registered with the Missouri Attorney General's Office as a legitimate nonprofit charitable organization.
While guardianships are not the right course of action for everyone with disabilities, for those who require a guardian, the MGA believes the best way for guardianships to be successful is for wards and guardians to have the resources and assistance that will help them live in and operate successful and responsible guardianships. Therefore, the MGA operates by using a three-tier classification of guardianships in that of general, specialized, and forensic. This classification system better identifies the need for guardianships; the scope and parameters; special needs, services, or requirements; and risk factors involved. It is an evolutionary concept and sustainable practice that brings guardianships into the 21st Century because guardianships cannot exist in a vacuum and no two guardianships are identical in every way.
The services and programs the MGA is developing include charitable grants, in-kind donations, peer-to-peer support groups, interactive work-shops, victim services, case management, mental health counseling, and scientific research on guardianships. We also provide a guardian's chatroom, resources for self-study, advocacy, and service system navigation. However, like all nonprofits, the MGA needs the support of people like you, to reach its goals. Everyone, no matter who he or she is, deserves to live a meaningful quality of life, to be safe, to be included in their communities, and to have common experiences in life. With your generosity, this can be the reality for people whom the MGA serves. Whether you donate $5, $20, $100, or more, your donation ensures the MGA can achieve its goals, and we appreciate your help.
