Coach Don (Donald Tonery)
On Saturday March 28th, Donald Tonery passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. Don was fiercely loved by his wife Deanna, his five grown sons, as well as Deanna’s two sons. Don and Deanna had just exchanged their wedding vows last summer. They were suppose to grow old together.
Don was a rock and compass not only to his beloved family, but also to all of his friends.
It was important for Don to work hard and provide for his family, but just as important to provide opportunities for others. He woke early and with purpose everyday. Striving to better himself and those around him. Don was always available to offer a helping hand, a supportive ear or a comforting hug to a friend in need.
Don and Deanna were passionate members of the local hockey community, regularly making monetary donations and donating their time. Throughout their many years participating in minor hockey, Don and Deanna connected with countless families. Bringing encouragement, friendship, an entire bag of cowbells, noisemakers and drums to support our teams. Whether it was our team or another Warrior team, there was no greater or louder supporter than Don. For those of us who were fortunate enough to have “Coach Don” on our team, the impression he left on our boys will be everlasting. Positive role model second to none.
For this reason, we are reaching out to the community. Many have asked how we can support Deanna during this difficult time. We have started this Go Fund Me in honour of Don to show our love and support. All proceeds will go directly to Deanna for immediate and future needs. Thanking you in advance for your support
