Fundraiser for Jade ❤️

Hi, my name is Sara & I am fundraising on behalf of my beautiful friend and new mam Jade.

Jade is the most caring & kind soul, who deserves the world.I know everyone’s support will mean the world to Jade and her new little family. Here are a few words from Jade herself regarding the reason for this fundraiser -

In January 2023 at 37 weeks pregnant, i was diagnosed with ocular melanoma. Its a rare eye cancer affecting 5 in a million people.There is one treatment available in ireland but unfortunately this is not suitable for me because my tumour is too close to my optic nerve. So I will have to travel to Liverpool for an alternative treatment. Its a high dose targeted radiation called proton beam therapy.

Obviously this news hit me like a tonne of bricks being so close to my due date. My consultant wanted me to begin treatment 2 weeks after I gave birth but I had an emergency c-section so I am still recovering trom that. In the next few weeks il get my appointment dates and they will involve at least 3 separate trips to the UK. 1 for more scans and tests, 1 for surgery to insert clips into the back of my eye for the radiation machine and 1 longer stay to have radiation daily for a week or so.

I am obviously on my maternity leave and my partner has returned to work. But while I await appointment and travel dates I know he will have to take extra time off to travel with me. It has all beens very overwhelming trying to prepare for our new baby on top of this news. We are trying our best to stay positive and get this chapter over and done with so we can enjoy being parents and look forward to our future with our little one.

I will lose the sight in my eye after treatment and will have to have lifelong MRI scans on my liver to ensure it hasn't spread. For some reason the liver is the most common place for it spread. But I'm just trying to navigate one thing at a time for the moment!

Any help will go towards travel and expenses for my new little family while I undergo treatment and day to day costs while I recover. Thanks so much ❤️
