Australia's offshore policy of locking up asylum seekers and refugees on Nauru and Manus is punitive and deadly...

 CRUCIAL to providing URGENT legal and medical responses to refugees and asylum seekers held on Manus Island, the MANUS EMERGENCY FUND is currently critical to saving lives offshore.

It's now been over 30 nights now since Azzam el Sheikh  ( whose claim for asylum was never properly processed on Manus)  has been detained in a prison in PNG without charges or medical treatment.

At present a temporary injunction has been gained to stop Azzam's deportation for a short period. Many of you will have viewed Azzam's video to the Prime Minister.

Now speaking  again from his gaol cell in PNG,  here Azzam speaks of the situation faced by his brothers on Manus:

" Hello. It’s el Sheikh here. Thanks, friends, for your support. My request is in two parts. I ask you to support Australia’s place in history - Australian future - & Australia now. I wanna ask anybody able to give something to my brothers in Manus, to do it now. It is the correct time now. They deserve your help and your support; they deserve every dollar you gonna pay - exactly as your kids deserve to be proud of their country & their history. "

"It is the time to show the world it wasn't the majority of Australia who tortured their asylum seekers, who killed them coz they believed in you. All my brothers believed in Australians as a wonderful people. At the end, don't say it’s only a little, if you give something to the Manus brothers. Five dollars, joined to others, could save lives.
