Building a Foundation for Okemos Youth Football

Music is playing in the background; it is Friday night! Players appear to be energetic as they run onto the field. Adrenaline begins to pump. The atmosphere in the stadium is surreal as faithful supporters fill the stands. Your kid/s could be in the crowd, marching in the band, cheering on the sidelines, dancing at half time or playing in the game. You get to watch your child and others as they participate in one of the most popular interscholastic sports in the US.

Reinvigorating a football program takes planning, structure and a long-term vision for student-athletes development. Okemos Youth Football currently has teams practicing tackle football starting in 4th grade. Coaches and athletes practice five days a week for hours to build agility, balance, coordination and the fundamentals of the athlete to get on the field and play a game they love!

Interestingly, Okemos Youth Football does not fall under the Okemos Public Schools program. The structure makes it difficult to find a home football field for the kids to play on. We are one of the only area schools with this issue. I am starting this Fund Me page to support Okemos Youth Football in the quest to play games on the Okemos High School football field.

We recently received an estimated $2000 rental fee to have youth football teams play on the OHS field with referees. Based on the current structure, it will be challenging to have home games unless we raise funds for the team. We have sold tickets, shirts and fan gear but have failed to raise the dollars needed to play a home game.
