Heather's Healing

Donation protected
"Brain Mass" has got to be the most devastating thing I've heard a doctor say. And to my wife! My best friend in the WORLD!! We've only been married just three short years! How can this be?! My wife, Heather, is mom to three beautiful children, Blaze(12), Arabella (14) and Hartlee (18). She’s known as 'shoog' to our firecracker of a grandson, Waylon, who just turned one, and whom she adores. Heather has been a nurse for over twenty years and has poured her life into caring for others. Now she needs others' help to care for her while facing this scary diagnosis. Heather's surgery is scheduled for December 19th, just over a week from now. She will undergo brain surgery at MD Anderson in Houston to remove the tumor. Only then will we find out her specific diagnosis and prognosis. The neurosurgeon has explained to us that due to the nature of the procedure and the location of the tumor, certain damages will be unavoidable. He has already confirmed that she will have speech, visual, and/or cognitive deficits afterwards that can take days to months or even longer to resolve. To what degree these effects will be, we do not know.

I wish I could save my wife from this . . .thing. It's taking space that I'm fairly certain is reserved for anger at me when I'm procrastinating or being forgetful. I want to destroy it with my bare hands and watch it melt away while God and I share a maniacal laugh that seems to say "nice try"! For now, I'm doing what I can to manage these new problems as they come barreling down toward my family. Heather is the glue—No, the LIFEBLOOD that holds our family together. Right now she is the primary provider as I'm a full time nursing student. I have put my nursing school on hold for now and will return to work as a Firefighter after Heather's surgery, but this will only make up for a drop in the bucket.

First and foremost, we are so grateful for your prayers for a full recovery. As many of you know, medical expenses alone can debilitate even the most prepared family in such a time as this. These medical costs, along with loss of income during recovery, travel expenses, and taking care of our family can be overwhelming. So that Heather can experience stress-free recovery, I am asking for your help as we find our way through this storm. Any gain from this fundraiser will be put towards medical expenses, travel, food, children's needs, and lodging first. If there is any remaining, the rest will be funneled into bills at home during Heather’s recovery that my income isn’t enough to make up for. If anything remains after this, the remaining proceeds will be donated back into a charity of Heather’s choice.

Even if you can't give at this time, please pray for Heather, for healing, wisdom for us and for the doctors. I will keep you posted as things progress. Thank you again and may God richly bless you.
