Mi Casa es tu Casa- a dream coffee eco-lodge

Lucia Alvarez is a coffee grower from Huila, Colombia looking to create an agro-tourism experience complete with lodging, cooking, Spanish & cooking lessons and an inside look into her coffee business.
Two years ago, Lucia chose to separate from her husband, a decision that startled her community. But for the first time in her life, Lucia’s future, and the futures of her children were in her hands. Using an inheritance left to her from her mother, Lucia purchased the coffee farm La Herencia and laid the foundations for a new life.
Lucia is a pioneer and a role model for women coffee producers trapped in unhealthy relationships with their partners, a situation unfortunately common throughout her community. In her small, rural, coffee-growing community, Lucia provides educational support, advocacy, and a shoulder to lean on for her peers still struggling to find a voice
As part of her journey, Lucia enrolled in the Women’s Center for Entrepreneurship. There, she gained the essential skills that she will use to transform her coffee farm into a thriving business and propel her forward as a woman leader in coffee. Upon completion of her coursework, Lucia left armed with a business plan to see her dreams through.
La Herencia is Lucia’s dream - but one of the first hurdles she needs to overcome is building a home. Unfortunately, her farm lacks proper infrastructure including running water and electricity; at the moment, Lucia is staying with a family friend across the road.
La Herencia, where Lucia's house will be built.
With your support, Lucia will finally have her fresh start. This house will not only be a home where Lucia can run her business but will be a beacon of hope guiding the many women from her community to take their own steps forward and move towards a bigger and better future for themselves.
