Nos encontramos buscado ayuda para la maestra Maribel Salama, quien presenta artrosis severa en ambas rodillas, inadecuada alineación mecánica de los miembros inferiores y meniscopatía interna bilateral. Requiere Artroplastia total de rodillas por un monto de 29,000 $USD.

Mi tía Mary, como cariñosamente la llamamos, vive en Venezuela y tiene 62 años,

es alegre, solidaria, cariñosa, divertida y amante de la naturaleza. Para nosotras

(sus sobrinas), ha sido una persona muy especial. Entre los recuerdos más

hermosos de nuestra niñez y adolescencia están indudablemente los de mi tía,

sus juegos, consejos, enseñanzas, cuidados y compañía; siempre demostrándonos con sus acciones su inmenso amor.

Maribel es maestra y profesora de Castellano y Literatura, trabajó durante mas de 25 años en educación municipal, desempeñando su labor en la única escuela del sector Sanchorquiz, del Parque Nacional El Ávila (actualmente jubilada), también en una zona de difícil acceso en Gramoven. Paralelamente se dedicó a la educación privada hasta hace 3 años, viéndose obligada a retirarse por el diagnostico mencionado anteriormente.

Después de dedicar gran parte de su vida a la formación de miles de niños y jóvenes, hoy se encuentra en una situación muy difícil al ser diagnosticada con

artrosis severa en ambas rodillas, inadecuada alineación mecánica de los

miembros inferiores y meniscopatia interna bilateral, lo que amerita un

tratamiento quirúrgico llamado Artroplastia total de rodillas (colocación de

prótesis Genesis II con instrumental mínimamente invasivo) para restituir la

funcionalidad de los miembros inferiores y recuperar su calidad de vida, ya que

presenta movilidad reducida acompañado de terribles dolores. Es necesario el

tratamiento lo más pronto posible para evitar la discapacidad total de sus piernas y el uso obligatorio de silla de ruedas.

Mi tía ha acudido a diversos hospitales públicos buscando la solución (ya que no

posee seguro médico HCM por los elevados costos) y no ha podido obtener resultados positivos dada la precariedad de los mismos, por lo que decidió dirigirse a la Fundación Hospital Ortopédico Infantil que a pesar de ser la opción más económica, le es imposible costear el tratamiento quirúrgico con su sueldo de maestra jubilada en Venezuela y nosotros, sus familiares tampoco contamos con los recursos necesarios para ayudarla.

Cabe destacar que se han hecho todos los enlaces posibles con diversas oficinas

de atención al ciudadano de diferentes instituciones del estado, incluyendo el

Ministerio de Salud, sin obtener respuesta. Por estas razones acudo a todos ustedes, amigos, familiares, conocido y a ti que estás leyendo esto, para que nos ayudes a recuperar la salud de mi tía y pueda continuar su labor educativa, que es una de las tareas que dan sentido a su vida.

We are seeking help for the teacher Maribel Salama, who suffers from severe osteoarthritis in both knees, inadequate mechanical alignment of the lower limbs, and bilateral internal meniscopathy. She requires total knee replacement surgery for a cost of USD 29,000.

My aunt Mary, as we affectionately call her, is 62 years old, lives in Venezuela, and is cheerful, caring, fun-loving, and nature-loving. For us (her nieces), she has been a very special person. Among the most beautiful memories of our childhood and adolescence are undoubtedly those of our aunt, her games, advice, teachings, care, and companionship; always showing us with her actions her immense love.

Maribel is a teacher and professor of Castilian and Literature, she worked for more than 25 years in municipal education, performing her work at the only school in the Sanchorquiz sector of the National Park “El Ávila” (currently retired), as well as in a hard-to-reach area in Gramoven. She also dedicated herself to private education until 3 years ago when she was forced to retire due to the aforementioned diagnosis.

After dedicating much of her life to the education of thousands of children and young people, she is now in a very difficult situation after being diagnosed with severe osteoarthritis in both knees, inadequate mechanical alignment of the lower limbs, and bilateral internal meniscopathy, which requires surgical treatment called total knee replacement (placement of Genesis II prosthesis with minimally invasive instrumentation) to restore functionality to the lower limbs and recover her quality of life, as she has reduced mobility accompanied by terrible pain. The treatment is necessary as soon as possible to avoid the total disability of her legs and the mandatory use of a wheelchair.

My aunt has gone to various public hospitals seeking a solution (since she does not have HCM medical insurance due to the high costs) and has not been able to obtain positive results due to their precariousness, so she decided to go to the Orthopedic Children's Hospital Foundation, but she cannot afford the surgical treatment with her retired teacher's salary in Venezuela, despite this being the most economical option; and we, her relatives, do not have the necessary resources to help her.

It should be noted that all possible links have been made with various citizen service offices of different state institutions, including the Ministry of Health, without obtaining a response. For these reasons, I appeal to all of you, friends, family, acquaintances, and to you who are reading this, to help us restore my aunt's health so that she can continue her educational work, which is one of the tasks that give meaning to her life.
