School Expansion
Our history
Michigan Islamic Academy is a full-time school located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The school is approved by Michigan State Department as meeting all the requirements of non-public schools. MIA is proud to be one of the few AdvancED Accredited Islamic Schools in Michigan. MIA was founded in 1985. It started with 4 classrooms and 10 teachers. After 27 years, MIA now has 15 classrooms, 32 teachers and 223 students in Pre-K to 12th grade. It has graduated more than 100 alumni who have gone into various professional fields. MIA provides a comprehensive curriculum that offers students a broad range of both academic and religious subjects including Arabic Language, Islamic Studies, Qur'an, English, Science, Mathematics, Computers, Social Studies, Health, Physical Education and Community Service. Onsite college classes are also offered for high school students.
Our current need
MIA has outgrown its facility, which has led to the current initiative for a new building. To complete the proposed construction effort will cost $1.5 million.
What has been done so far
Phase 1 of the expansion is complete thanks to the generousity of MIA supporters. This phase cost $750K. A great progress has also been made in Phase II, estimated cost is $850K. We are still $400K short to complete Phase II. Upon the completion of Phase II, a complete weather-proof shell of the entire construction will be achieved Inshallah. This will lead to moving to the final Phase III of finishing the interior of the classrooms, science lab, and gymansium. The new expansion will help us to get rid of the waiting list for kids who are seeking an education in an Islamic environment. This cannot be done without the Tawfeeq from Allah then your gracious help! Your donation is urgently needed to complete the project before the winter. Please donate NOW!
