Mia's Kids of Courage Fund
Donation protected
For Mia’s Mitzvah project she wanted to create awareness and raise funds for an organization called Kids of Courage that has changed her cousin Danny’s life. Many of Mia’s friends are lucky enough to attend sleepaway camp and have that wonderful experience. Danny has a life threatening disability which requires daily medical care and assistance and like many of the other kids that take advantage of Kids of Courage, they would be unable to go to a traditional camp program or teen tour because of their complex health issues. For the last 6 years Kids of Courage has given Danny the opportunity to have amazing adventures in a social and safe way by offering one to one counselor assistance and a full team of doctors and nurses to provide round the clock medical support. Kids of Courage takes 150+ lucky “couragers” for a one week teen tour/camp like experience that they would never get to experience without this amazing organization. Each year he travels to a different place and is treated to non-stop fun. Some of his adventure destinations have been to San Francisco, San Diego, Dallas and Orlando. For one week they get to forget their various diagnosis and just be typical campers!

KIDS OF COURAGE
“[1]Imagine for a moment that you are 14 years old and in a wheelchair, or have a feeding tube, or require oxygen, or possibly all three. How difficult would it be to travel to a place like Disney World, ski down the slopes of a snowy mountain or ride a rollercoaster or jet-ski?
Kids of Courage (K.O.C.) is an extraordinary, unique, non-profit organization that makes dreams come true for children and young adults who are living with serious, debilitating, painful, often life-threatening illnesses, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
Volunteer driven, K.O.C.‘s mission and goal, from its inception in 2008, has been to empower children and young adults — most of whom would otherwise be restricted to hospitals or their homes — to have the glorious, joyful, exhilarating, companion-filled adventures children deserve and to enable them to see and experience a world of delights that would otherwise be unattainable.”
Kids of Courage is an organization that is very important to my family and we appreciate any contribution as they are fully funded by donations and it is free to the families who attend. kidsoc.org/donate.
Thank you so much.
