Mia the friendly bulldog

Donation protected
The moment I laid my eyes on Mia, I knew she was the one. Of all the puppies, she was the shiest one there, sitting in a corner all by herself. She reminded me of myself when I was younger; shy and nervous. Little did I know, her true personality would shine through once I took her home.

The minute we got home, Mia came out of her shell. She wasn’t shy, she was a bundle of energy! She began running around, going in and out of furniture and peeing everywhere. I stood there speechless. Did this tiny little nugget trick me? Mia in actuality was naturally curious and very adventurous! We have had countless of beautiful moments playing, laughing, cuddling, and simply loving each other over the years. She loves chewing shoes. The fancier the better. I lost track of how many times I had to say sorry to my family and friends. Sensing she is in trouble, she slouches her back, lowers her head and bats her sad brown eyes at you. This usually pulls the string of their hearts and all is forgiven. That always does the trick and all is forgotten.

Mia has both Lyme disease and acute kidney disease. It all started  this past Christmas Eve, I rushed Mia to the emergency room at Animal Medical Center in NY. She was suffering from aggressive head tremors and shivers. She also stopped eating and drinking water. I was so scared. After, consulting with various other Veterinarians and facilities, Mia tested positive for Lyme disease and acute kidney disease. She is currently at the ICU of Pearl Blue VetHospital in Forest Hills Queens so she could be monitored 24/7. One of her kidney values are high, 6.0 and she has a high amount of protein in her urine. Mia has lost a great amount of weight due to not eating and a lack of water intake. To complicate things further, Mia’s antibodies are not only fighting off the disease but is also fighting the medication and liquids that are being used to treat her. She is currently under auto immune suppressants, which is weakening her immune system so her antibodies don’t fight off all the medication given to her.

Mia has been a crucial piece in my life. In fact, she saved me from depression and trauma. She is my little angel sent from above. Mia continuously reminded me to keep pushing forward in life by leading with example. Mia is an early riser and has always made sure that I wake up with her and take advantage of the entire day with a happy wagging tail. When I had failed relationships, she was there to put a smile on my face. My family is close knit, but Mia brought us closer. She was the matriarch to our family dinners, sleepovers, barbecues, and special birthdays.

God has blessed Mia with 4 years of good health. But now I am reaching out for help. I am scraping money together to keep her at the hospital and continue her treatment. She is currently hooked up to an IUV which gives her bodily liquids and hydration she needs. Today she was given Doxycycline, an antibiotic, that helps treat the Lyme disease. Ideally she needs a dialysis that costs $25k-$30k but that is too expensive to even think about. If you could help with some type of donation I would be so grateful.  No amount is too small.

She saved me from my depression.   I want to save her life.  I desperately need help.

Thank you.
