Mia was born with a severe to profound bilateral sensorineural hearing loss, which was not diagnosed until after her first birthday. Mia became upset on a recent family holiday after being unable to communicate with the other children in the pool. Mia is a water baby who has always loved swimming and being near the water. It's been unbearable for Mia as she cannot wear hearing aids in or around the water, which is a significant concern for her safety and creates a huge communication barrier.
