Saving Micah – Time is Running Out!
Imagine being diagnosed with cancer and beating the odds – overcoming the battle and receiving a clean bill of health. Now, imagine being diagnosed with cancer a second time. This is what life is like for Micah Anderson.
Micah is a father – he has four remarkable daughters that need him to get the treatment he needs to be able to watch them grow up and walk them down the aisle at their weddings. He is the husband to an amazing wife, Carissa. He has been a long-standing contributor to his local community, working tirelessly with his time and energy and bridging the gap, not only in his local community, but beyond. I think of what it must be like to fight this battle, not once, but twice, and the perseverance and tenacity it takes to scale this mountain. I think of what it would be like if it were my family, and I would want them to have the chance to have the treatment they need and to be able to secure another victory in the fight against this terrible disease.
That’s where we all can stand in the gap for Micah. Recently, Micah was diagnosed with metastatic seminoma. Unfortunately, after some marked success, this cancer has become NEXT LEVEL aggressive. This required NEXT LEVEL treatments that cost, even with good insurance. The anticipated cost out of pocket for this generous family is anticipated to be $75,000. As to be expected, this kind of burden on a family results in a draining of financial resources and an inability to return to work. The initial phase of this treatment runs for about three months and that causes a tremendous burden for the Anderson family.
Adding to this compounding dilemma, Micah also has been found to have a level 2 detox capability as well as a propensity to high systemic toxicity, meaning that the more aggressive the standard of care and treatment, it could actually result in a detriment on Micah’s life. It is a choice that no one should ever have to make: choosing between utilizing current methods of treatment with only a marginalized success rate, or a NEXT LEVEL standard of care that allows for better prognosis. The seven doctors working with Micah are taking very good care of him, but they are recommending treatment and extensive travel to these treatments over the course of a year. One year of treatment and travel could mean many added years to Micah’s life, and time with his family that he would not otherwise have.
We are asking for help to raise money for this generous family and to stand in the gap for them to find their healing. The initial cost for treatments could be as much as $55,000, ongoing treatments could be as much as $165,000, travel and relocation could cost as much as $40,000, and a resulting loss of income and subsequent living expenses could be up to $20,000.
The best case scenario is that the financial burden on this family could be as much as $150,000 for this family over the course of the coming year, but it could be more due to options recommended by the doctors. At this time, we do realize this is an enormous task, especially in a smaller time frame.

Still yet, we ask, what is the price that can be placed on a life?
Our hopeful goal is that Micah can begin treatment the day after Thanksgiving and complete initial rounds before Christmas. It is our every hope and expectation that he can regain strength and stamina and be able to mend, returning to his community and his family.
This fundraiser and your subsequent generosity will shape the very course of the next stages of Micah’s life, and which route he can take to be able to move forward in his journey.
In order to make this happen, Micah would need $60,000 preferably before November 10th to secure a place in one of these programs. Additionally, $60,000 would be needed by December 22 to preserve a spot and continue treatment. Lastly, he would need $60,000 by February 16, 2024 to make arrangements to move to a hybrid care model and sustained care for 12 months of treatment.
A Word from Micah
Suffering is not new to any of us. I don’t consider myself to be a “special case” deserving of special treatment. Honestly, I’m a little uncomfortable being the center of attention in this way. I tend to prefer to be on the giving end of generosity, than on the receiving end. That said, I am extremely grateful for the overwhelming generosity, love, and support my “tribe” has shown to my family - especially over the last five months. Your words, prayers, attention, and contributions have had an incalculable life-giving effect on me and my family. Thank you! Dealing with this level of crisis has a way of generating a deep level of contemplation and meditation. It’s a real gift - though many wouldn’t see it that way. Just as my body needs healing, so do our lives. Most of us deal with levels of pain, torment, and despair that we largely keep concealed in the hidden places of our lives. Dealing with this disease has revealed to me that humanity as a whole is in desperate need of two things at this particular time in history:
● A renewal of relationships
● A renewal of serving others
There are four quality ingredients necessary for any individual to have a high level of impact on these two things:
1) Gratitude
2) Amplified personal growth: if you’re not growing, you’re dying
3) Life depth and clarity: nothing does this more than contributing to a clear purpose
4) Enriching relationships: nothing gives more value to life than love
Due, in part, to the generosity of many hundreds (maybe even thousands) of people, I have made this my life ambition: to help people enrich their vital relationships, generate life depth and clarity and amplify personal growth. I believe this journey with cancer, and the encompassing quest for healing is equipping me for this task. I deeply cherish all the support along the way. Your love toward me and my family is having an impact that will far outlive any of us, with boundless benefits for the future of those who follow after us. Thank you!
