Micah O'Neal leukemia support
Donation protected
Micah and Emily O'Neal have been married for two years. They were both working full time, owned their house, had two dogs, two cats, and a fairly simple life. Micah has dealt with an unusual condition called Arteriovenous Malformation in his brain his whole life, though he found out when we was an adult. He has had a couple of surgeries to correct this life threatening condition, and the doctors felt they were successful. The fear of this condition may have saved Micah's life.
In April of 2021, Micah suddenly had dizziness and numbness in his arms. His doctor was worried and immediately sent him to the ER. Many hours later her was released from the ER and told to go home. His Arteriovenous Malformation was not causing any problem. That was great news!
The next morning the hospital called to tell him he had an aggressive form of leukemia, Acute Myeloid Leukemia, and that he would be checking into the hospital the next day for 30 days of intensive chemotherapy. Micah and Emily's life stopped as they knew it.
Six months later, Micah has been in and out of the hospital for intensive chemotherapy for five separate cycles. He is constantly sick, has no energy, has lost and regrown his hair, and has had many, many blood transfusions. Neither of them are working now, and neither employer had short term disability or family leave.
Though Micah has great health insurance, not everything is covered. In addition to other bills adding up and they fear they will lose their house.
Micah has an upcoming biopsy though we won’t know results and next steps until close to the end of the year. These results will indicate whether he will continue to the chemo treatment, have a bone marrow transplant, or will be able to have the port taken out of his chest and the doctors will just monitor his blood in the coming months and years.
Please help Micah and Emily to either put their lives back together and get through the next treatment steps. Any help is appreciated.
