Help Mica rebuild her family home in Lahaina

Donation protected
Mica and her family need help to recover after the devastating fires that tore through Lahaina last week. As the flames swept away their home and their car, the Sarians are facing an uphill battle to rebuild their lives from the ground up.

As they navigate the challenging path to recovery, Mica Sarian, a dedicated employee of Häagen Dazs ice cream shop at Whalers Village, emerges as a beacon of unwavering perseverance. For the last 4 years, Mica has poured her heart and soul into serving her community with scoops of joy and cups of camaraderie. Her commitment to her job goes beyond serving ice cream; she's been serving smiles, fostering connections, and building relationships with each customer who walks through the shop's doors.

Mica's unwavering dedication is mirrored in her approach to life – a testament to the strength that defines the Sarian family. As her corporate family, we have the incredible opportunity to rally around Mica and her family in their time of need.

Their Story
In July 2013, the Sarian family embarked on a new chapter of their lives, leaving the Philippines to make a home in the vibrant heart of Hawaii. Mica, her parents: Cristobal and Gemma, and her siblings: Edrian, Mico, and Dylan set to work saving up to buy a home together.

In October of 2019, that dream was realized and they found the perfect home in the bustling center of Old Town Lahaina, just one block from Front Street and the beloved Banyan tree - a testament to their hard work and determination. They bought a new car soon after, ready to take on the world.

The fire that swept through their lives shattered this haven, leaving them with nothing but the strength of their family bond.

In the afternoon of August 8th, Mica was at Safeway with her boyfriend buying groceries. When they tried to go home after their trip, they weren't allowed through the already blocked roads. They drove to Napili market and spent the night in the parking lot. Her dad, Cristobal, and her two younger brothers were at home with the fires rapidly approaching. They evacuated quickly, and drove to Oluwalo Beach to wait out the fires, eventually spending the night there. Her mom, Gemma, and older brother, Edrian, were at work.

It took two days, with limited cell service and chaos across the island, for their family to be reunited, across the island in Kahului. In that time they pored over news articles, searching every photograph to see whether or not they still had a home, or a car, to return to.

Sadly it became clear they would have to once again rebuild their lives, and they started looking ahead to the future. Even return to work is uncertain, as the places where many of them work are gone or closed indefinitely - including the Häagen-Dazs shop at Whales Village where Mica works.

They need help to start again - to find a new place to rent, buy clothing and food, and make ends meet until the path forward becomes more certain.

Join us in this endeavor to rewrite the narrative of the Sarian family's story. Your support will not only provide them with the resources they need to rebuild, but it will also send a powerful message of hope and unity that will resonate far beyond this moment. Even in the face of adversity, the human spirit can shine brighter than ever before.

Donate, share, and stand with the Sarian family as they embark on this journey of resilience and recovery.
