In Memory of Michael Allen: Supporting His Family's Future

On June 13, 2024, we lost a cherished friend, father, and husband. Michael Allen's decision to tragically end his life has left a void in the hearts of many, especially his beloved family. We are creating this GoFundMe to support Michael's wife, MaKela, their young children, Andre (3) and MaKena (1).

Michael was a beacon of joy in the lives of those who knew him. His infectious laughter, warm smile, and genuine kindness touched everyone he met. Michael's love for Michael Jordan, the Los Angeles Chargers, and Elvis Presley was only surpassed by his devotion to his family. He could often be found cheering on his favorite teams, and talking smack with friends and family about their Fantasy Football teams. But more than anything, Michael took immense pride in being a father, finding his greatest happiness in the moments spent with Andre and MaKena.

For nearly two and a half years, Michael had been on a journey of sobriety, demonstrating remarkable strength and dedication. This period was a testament to his love for his family and his commitment to personal growth. His family treasures the precious time they shared with him during these years, creating lasting memories of a loving, sober father and husband. Michael's determination to overcome his struggles with alcohol inspired many and showed the true depth of his character.

When MaKela's mother passed away unexpectedly last year, Michael didn't hesitate to open his heart and home to their niece, Kamya (16). This act of love and selflessness exemplified the kind of man Michael was – always ready to help, support, and nurture those around him. 

Two days after Michael’s passing, their family was planning to move into a larger home that would have better accommodated their blended family. Given the circumstances, MaKela was unable to afford that larger home on her own, and has decided to move into a new location starting July 1st. Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a significant difference in the lives of MaKela, Andre, MaKena, and Kamya. Your generosity will help ensure that Michael's legacy lives on through the bright futures of his children, and will allow MaKela to begin the healing process without the added stress of financial worries as she navigates life raising two young kids and a teenager on her own. 

While Michael's passing was unexpected, we choose to celebrate the beautiful life he lived and the family he cherished. His legacy lives on in the laughter of his children, the memories shared with friends, and the love he poured into those around him.

A Message from MaKela:

I desperately want Michael to be remembered for the man he was, rather than the choice he made. I cannot even begin to describe the immense amount of heartbreak I feel and have continued to feel every single second of each day since the moment I saw Michael was no longer here. To some Michael was a friend, a co-worker, or family member - to us, he was our world. I never thought I would be forced to imagine a life without him. Never did I think I’d have to say goodbye, I believed in our forever. 

I want our kids to know they were loved beyond measure. I am 29 years old and recognize this journey of healing will be a long road ahead for our kids, my niece, and myself. I will try every day to create a life of love and will do everything in my power to provide for our family. 

With this GoFundMe, I want any donations to be used for their future, their education, and to ensure I will not have to worry if I can afford their dreams. 

Funds raised will go toward:

1 Two separate 529 Educational Savings Accounts for Andre and MaKena

2 Separate Savings Account for any extracurricular activities the kids would like to do as they grow up – sports camps, school trips, dance lessons, etc. My deepest worry is if I will have the means to make their dreams come true when I will be solely responsible for our living expenses. 

3 Paying for Andre and MaKena’s Pre-K & Daycare so I can continue to work in my profession.

4 Supporting Kamya in her last two years of High School and into adulthood 

5 End-of-life/burial expenses & Immediate family needs
