Michael Bailey Cancer Fund
Donation protected
Michael was recently diagnosed with Stage IV gastric adenocarcinoma and unfortunately does not have PTO or sick leave benefits to fall back on while he is hospitalized and undergoing treatment. This fundraiser will help provide financial support for the Bailey's during this difficult time.
11/11/20 The Bailey’s are so incredibly grateful for the outpouring of love and support from so many friends. Michael has run into some complications with this cancer. It is extremely aggressive and the tumors which have spread to his liver have caused problems with blockage of his bile ducts. He has had two surgeries to try to correct this, the first being a stent placed in the right side of his liver, they tried the left side as well but it was too narrow. The stent helped for a couple days, but his bilirubin climbed again and he had to have an external biliary drain tube which is connected to a bile bag he carries at his side. This helped temporarily, enough to allow him one chemo treatment.
Michael was scheduled for his second chemo session yesterday, but they were not able to go through with it. Unfortunately, his bilirubin is climbing again and the chemo would be much too damaging to his already failing liver. He is undergoing his third surgery right now to replace the biliary drain with a larger drain tube in hopes this might bring his bilirubin back down enough for him to be able to resume chemo.
Initially we had hoped Michael might be able to return to work between chemo treatments, but’s it is evident now that will not happen. He has been getting severely dehydrated and due to pressure from the drain tube and the tumor growing in his stomach, he has not been able to eat or drink much and has lost about 44 lbs in the past 5-6 weeks. We have had some unforeseen expenses and have increased our goal to help meet these needs.
Again, we can’t find the words to express our gratitude for all the prayers, love and support we have received.
God Bless!
