I need help. I am asking for help for my very best friend, Michael Crider, and his family. Michael has Marfan Syndrome, and has dealt with it like a soldier for the majority of his life. Marfans is a connective tissue disorder than affects lung and heart functions. He has been hospitalized now for a month. He has a stubborn lung that has collapsed multiple times. As hard nosed and tough as Michael is, he has brushed off this collapsed lung many times in the past as simply chest or back pain and kept moving. Kept working. Kept providing. Only to find out that one of his lungs was collapsed. He has now been to two hospitals, during which he has been called the “mystery patient.” They have seemed to help the problem, but also say “he cannot be fixed.” He is headed home soon - to spend the holidays with family - connected to machines and tubes, but has been told “it’s a waiting game.” Michael, his wife Stephanie, and his family are without a doubt the most hard working, humble, God fearing, genuine people that I know. Michael is the kind of a guy that would LITERALLY give you the shirt off of his back. He plays the drums, guitar, and banjo like you’ve never heard. We’ve had too many memories of camping, hunting, and fishing to even begin to list. He’s always been someone that I’ve looked up to. As well as anyone does that he comes in contact with. He’s the most genuine soul that I know. Michael is the epitome of a southern gentleman. The kind of person we all strive to be, or teach our kids to grow up to be. His wife Stephanie has been by his side unwaveringly since his hospitalization, and is a true God send for not only him, but for all of his friends and family. Michael has had numerous surgeries, and has been hospitalized for far too long for someone as tough as him. The team of doctors that have been looking after him have said there are some extreme surgery possibilities left, but they want to put them off if possible. Michael is headed home soon, but we don’t know for how long. They say this battle is something he will likely deal with, if handled for now, for a lifetime. I’m asking for help for him, his family, and his newlywed wife, Stephanie Crider. His life is worth nothing more than anything I could do in the world for him. Thank you for any support to Mr. Michael Crider. Feel free to share.
