Our dad, Mike Fenner, on Sunday, August 14th, was in a very traumatic accident and suffered a severe brain injury and other facial injuries. He has been in the Neuro ICU since being seen by Neurosurgeons, Trauma, ENT (ear/nose/throat), Ophthalmology, and later on down the road, most likely Plastic Surgeons. He has been stable throughout the journey and has already undergone an 8-hour surgery to put plates and screws in his face so it will heal properly. For this long recovery, he will need many more surgeries, doctors, meds, etc.
He is such a caring and hardworking man. Dad was the kind of man that would give you the shirt off his back for someone in need. He did everything he could for us, and that's exactly what we are trying to do here. He was a concrete mason for 15+ years in the union and brought all his skills and tricks to Florida to further his career. Overall he was a rapid learner and was super talented at everything he put his mind to. He loves the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and camping. He has a fantastic purebred german shepherd, Axle and a beautiful calico cat, Kidders, that also dearly miss his presence.
Before the accident, he moved to Florida about two years ago to find a better job and start fresh. He finally found a decent-paying job and was on the right track, but finances have always been complicated. Now that he is going through this very rough time, his prior financial obligations are still there, his medical bills will for sure add up, and with a brain injury, it'll take at least six months- 1 year to heal. Even after his brain has healed, he will have years of rehabilitation to be close to where he was before. With all that being said, my sister Hailey and I, Hannah, are trying to ensure he has a financial headstart when he wakes up.
As his daughters, we appreciate all the thoughts and prayers being sent his way during this challenging time; if there is anything you can send to help us reach our goal, we also appreciate it. Thanks for reading his story, lots of love.
