Michael Frank Bernardo

Michael Bernardo. Our beloved son, father, brother and best friend, passed away suddenly Monday morning, July 24th, 2023. Michaels's life was tragically cut short, at the young age of 35 years old. Michael did not deserve to be taken from us and this world so soon in life. He was an "old soul" and had a heart of gold. He had a warm smile that would brighten up the room. Michael was so funny and had a way about him that would make you laugh so hard. Everyone loved Michael. Michael cared about everyone and tried to help people who needed it. Michael was also a father who will be deeply missed by his two beautiful daughters, Khloe and Aubrey. He worked as a Bellman at Ocean Casino. Michael loved his job and co-workers. Unfortunately, getting in touch with the proper personnel in the benefits department to find out if he has death benefits or life insurance has not been easy. The Local 54 Union rep in the benefits department said they can't tell me exactly what benefits he has and will send me the paperwork in two to three weeks! The funeral home can not wait two to three days for payment, let alone, two to three weeks. The least expensive cremation and services start at over $8,000. Michaels's mother would like him to have a traditional burial and services so family and friends have a chance to pay their respects and say their last goodbyes to him. That would cost close to $20,000. Anything left over will be used for final expenses and to help the grieving family members who have given their last dollar to give Michael the best celebration of life they could. I work at the casino as well. It has been very slow in my department the past few weeks. We have been living week to week just scraping by and have no savings. I have no idea where I'm going to come up with over $8,000 in less than a week. Friends and family have helped some but it's not nearly enough. A good friend suggested that I start a go- fund me account to raise the funds.
