On Tuesday, October 3, Michael Havis was transported to a Birmingham hospital in extreme pain. After several days of testing and a major surgery, doctors and family have together made the decision to put Michael on hospice in the hospital. We still have unanswered questions, but because of his fragile state, those tests cannot be performed. Based on all the information we’ve received, doctors and family think the best thing to do is work to keep Mike comfortable and focus on his quality of life.

The doctors and staff at the hospital have been amazing and have given Michael nothing but the best care. We feel confident that God knew exactly where Mike needed to be. Because of the delicate nature of Mike’s condition, we’re asking that his hospital room be reserved for close friends and family only.

We ask that if you want to help, first and foremost, we request your prayer. Pray for Mike to be in peace. Ask that his pain subsides. Pray for his doctors and staff to continue loving on him and treating him like family. Pray for his family who are suffering. We know a lot of people have asked how you can help in a more tangible way. If you feel led, consider contributing to help relieve some of the medical costs for Mike. Mike’s pain started a few months ago, limiting him from being able to work.

Again, first and foremost, we covet your prayers for Mike and his family. These last few days have been long and hard. While we grow weary, we know that we serve a God who is just getting started.

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
