In Honor of Michael Hiatt

Michael Hiatt was more than just a coworker. He was a friend, a mentor, a source of inspiration, and a ray of sunshine. He joined First American in 2002, and for 21 years he dedicated himself to serving our customers with excellence, professionalism, and integrity. He was always smiling, always positive, always willing to lend a hand or a listening ear. He touched the lives of many people, both inside and outside the company, with his kindness, generosity, and humor.
Mike was a valued member of our team, but also a part of our family. He was someone we could trust, rely on, and learn from. He was someone we could laugh with, grumble with, and celebrate with. Mike was patient, and never lost his temper, even in the most stressful situations. He always took the time to explain things clearly, calmly, and respectfully. Mike was helpful, and never hesitated to offer his assistance, whether it was to solve a problem, answer a question, or share his expertise. He always went the extra mile to make sure our customers were satisfied and our colleagues were happy. Mike was knowledgeable, with years and a wealth of experience and insight that he generously shared with us. He was always eager to learn new things and improve his skills. Finally, Mike was kind. He treated everyone with dignity, compassion, and empathy. He always had a kind word, a compliment, or a word of encouragement for us. He always showed interest in our lives, our hobbies, and especially our families. He was someone who made us feel appreciated, respected, and supported. He was someone who made us better.
Mike left us too soon, but he will never be forgotten. He will always be in our hearts, our minds, and our memories. He will always be a part of our history, our culture, and our legacy. He will always be a part of us.
We will remember him by honoring his values, his work ethic, and his spirit. We will remember him by continuing his mission of serving our customers with excellence, professionalism, and integrity. We will remember him by supporting each other, caring for each other, and being there for each other. We will remember him by living each day with gratitude, joy, and purpose. We will remember him by smiling, by being positive, by being willing to lend a hand or a listening ear. We will remember him by being patient, helpful, knowledgeable, and kind.
We will remember him by being like him.
Mike's sudden passing has left his 22 year old daughter Faith with a with a lot of unexpected costs, such as funeral expenses, bills, legal fees, etc. We'd like to help her, in any way we can, to cope with the grief and trauma of losing her father, by giving her some of the financial support she needs. She is doing her best, but she can't do it alone.
