Michael Kuzma's Fight Against Cancer

Hi, my name is Daria and I created this fundraiser for my brother in law Michael Kuzma. Mike was diagnosed with stage three squamous cell carcinoma in November 2022 at 32 years old, only weeks before he moved to South Carolina with my sister, Rachel and their 2 1/2 year old twins, Jack and Sophia.

The doctors took an aggressive approach in treatment by giving him chemotherapy and the maximum amount of radiation. Mike and Rachel bought their first home together in February 2023 and Mike was told he was cancer free in April 2023! Unfortunately, less than a year later his scan revealed the cancer was back in his lymph nodes. After multiple opinions it was determined they would start an intense chemotherapy and immunotherapy plan followed by surgery. Mike began this treatment on Monday, February 26th.

This fundraiser is to help offset the cost of medical needs, unpaid time Mike had to and will have to take off and childcare costs so Rachel can be by Mike's side along the way. Once the insurance deductible is hit they are still responsible for 20% of treatment which has already become a substantial debt.
