Michael Lance vs Leukemia

Donation protected

Not a challenge he wanted but Michael Lance Young accepts the challenge to
BEAT Leukemia! And we will be with him-praying for him, strengthening him, encouraging him, and FIGHTING  with him!

I’m sure you’re as shocked as we were to learn of this fight!!!

First of all, we apologize to any family or friends with whom we have not been able to speak prior to this post.  Please forgive us, as all of this is sudden news to us, and we are all still processing the information.  I will share below as much detail as we currently know so that you are all caught up.

Michael Lance just turned 15 years old this past April.  He just completed the 9th grade and enjoys doing what most boys do...video games and hanging with friends and family.  He is my oldest nephew, son of Lance and Jennifer Young.

In what was to be a quick trip to the doctor concerning a mild cough ended up being much bigger than ever thought and has forever changed our lives.  Michael Lance was diagnosed Friday evening, June 5, with T-cell Leukemia.  At his doctor's visit concerning his cough, the doctor ordered a chest X-ray that led to other tests and ultimately this diagnosis.  After being admitted to the Studer Children's Family Hospital in Pensacola, FL, he was flown to Gainesville, Shands Children’s Hospital at the University of Florida due to precautions that involve his heart.  He has swollen lymph nodes and toxicity that this hospital is much more equipped to handle so he was quickly put on a medivac headed to Gainesville.  He is currently in PICU, texting us often, I might add, which is helping us more than he will ever know.  Of course, he is undergoing more tests and is to begin chemotherapy treatments as soon as some other things are in order.  When these complications are under control (Lance and Jen are currently being told 2-4 weeks), he will go back to Studer in Pensacola to continue his chemo treatments.  At this time, albeit still in the first 24-48hours since diagnosed, Lance and Jen are being told he could have chemo treatments for an extended period, likely 2-5 years.

We can't always fix things, but we can always do things to make them better!  Let's join together and make it better for this family!

PRAYERS and donations are much appreciated and will forever be remembered.
