Hey everyone this is Mike's Sister Laura in Maine. Most of you know Mike had an accident in the woods. He's in really good hands with his son Tyler, girlfriend Jessie, sister Stacie and mom Sandie. This is how I can feel like I am helping from far away.
On October 16th 2021 Mike was out in the woods with his son Tyler putting up a tree stand getting ready for the season. While standing up in the tree stand the strap gave away causing him to fall out of the tree and land with a significant impact. Thankful that Tyler was there and kept a cool head. He called 911 and a friend to come help. Mike was taken to Hartford Hospital where they found he has a fractured sternum, two fractured discs and a disc that became un aligned. They have opted out of surgery at this time and are giving him time to heal on his own.
As most of you know Mike is one tough son of a gun. I would describe him as half lion and half lamb for those of you that do not know him as well. Fierce with everything that he does and his love for family and friends. Kind beyond measured to be that person who would give you the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Now don't get me wrong, he is our brother and can be a pain in the ass but family is family and I'm pretty glad he's on our side.
Mike was discharged unexpectedly on Wednesday October 20th. Communication in the hospital was truly lacking most of the time. He is in a lot of pain but happy to be home. It will be a very slow recovery and right now looking at several months out of work. We are taking it day by day. We are setting up this page to help Mike relax and concentrate on recovery, rather than his monthly living expenses and medical bills.
Many of you have asked what you can do to help and this would be the biggest way. Thank you for all your prayers and healing thoughts it is appreciated more than you will know. We will keep you posted on his recovery as often as we can.
