Michael Mecl - Miraglia’s Road to Recovery

Hi everyone,

My name is Corey Stegman and I am writing this on behalf of my dear friend, Michael Mecl-Miraglia.

Mike suffered severe injuries from a motorcycle accident on Monday morning 1/2/2023. He shattered one arm and shattered/fractured several vertebrae, sustained a tear in his spinal cord as well as some severed nerves in his spine. The spinal damages have resulted in reduced sensation and movement in Mike's lower limbs. Almost 24 hours post-accident and after being transported to multiple hospitals, Mike arrived at one of the best spinal surgery hospitals in Mexico, located in Guadalajara. As of this writing (1/3/2023) Mike is still in surgery, but we will continue to post updates here and elsewhere. The surgeon maintains optimism for Mike's prognosis post-surgery but regardless of the outcome of surgery, Mike has a long recovery ahead of him.

Mike has been a shining light in my life for over 13 years, and I know he has impacted so many of you that are reading this in similar ways. I have no doubt that Mike will put every ounce of effort possible into his recovery, but he is going to need our help along the way. The cost to treat his injuries in Mexico, transport him home post-surgery and complete his healing process will be substantial. Anything that you can contribute will go a long way and we thank you very much in advance.
