Help for Michael Postlethwaite's Funeral

Our beloved Michael sadly passed away Friday 13 December 2024. The family is absolutely heartbroken and know that the glue that held us all together, has been stolen from us far too soon. Michael attended Salford Royal Hospital and Sorrell Bank Medical Practice, Salford on the week of his death. He was dismissed by both, who advised it was acid reflux. He was prescribed Omeprazole and told to buy some Gaviscon before he sent on his way. Just days later, Michael was found alone in his house by a close family member. He celebrated his 51st birthday at the end of November.

The loss of Michael has come as a complete shock. The aftermath of Michael's passing will be felt by the whole family but more so by his youngest daughter Bella. Bella who is only 11 years old, suffers from Caudal Regression Syndrome, which is an extremely rare medical condition that severely impacts her mobility due underdeveloped bones in her spine and legs. The condition has forced Bella to overcome so many obstacles and challenges, both mentally and physically, since she was born. The one constant that was with her, battling away by her side, was her Dad. Without her Dad, Bella's future is one of uncertainty and immediate sadness due to the void his loss will leave.

Michael stopped working to become a full time carer for Bella. His life was centred on looking after her, protecting her and giving her all the love and support she needed to face the hardships she has been dealt with. From countless hospital appointments, to assisting on school trips and projects so she could still live as normal a life as possible, there was nothing Michael wouldn't do for his little girl. He fought with everything he had to secure her a place on a waiting list for a major spinal operation to try to give her a better quality of life.

Michael was a truly exceptional man whose warmth and caring nature touched all of those around him. He was a devoted Father to 3 wonderful children; Bella 11, Jacob 18 and Terri 32. In 2020, he became a Grandfather to Leo and that little boy utterly idolised Michael. We all looked up to him in one way or another, he was an incredible man who prioritised those closest to him above anything else, including himself. Along with the children and grandson, Michael leaves behind partner Paula as well as siblings Susan, Samantha and Lee, who will all sorely miss him.

As a family we are all absolutely devastated and shocked by the passing of Michael and were not expecting to be arranging a funeral and the high costs that this brings. We are looking to raise funds not just to give Michael the send off that he deserves, but to make sure that those he leaves behind, such as little Bella, are taken care of.
