Supporting Michael Sarver Through Cancer Treatment
Donation protected
As many of you may remember, Plymouth Housing Case Manager Michael Sarver alerted us recently of his cancer diagnosis. Originally, he was thought to have pancreatic cancer, but it's since been changed to bile duct cancer, which is more aggressive.
Michael has been a coworker and a friend of mine for years. We met when he started working at Plymouth Housing back in September 2017, as he was assigned to tag along with me and a former coworker to learn the job. He shared a myriad of great stories from his days in San Francisco and Hawaii, to being a friend of Bob's, and how he'd come to serve people in the unhoused community to find and keep their housing. Michael has always helped people to recognize and manage their substance use disorders and supported them in being the best version of themselves.
I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that as a Housing Case Manager at Plymouth for over 5 years, he's saved many lives. As a Substance-Use-Disorder counselor, he has coached his clients toward reconsidering the value of sobriety. He has taught me to be a better listener and a better storyteller.
Michael is in chemo treatment and cannot work for the foreseeable future. I am hoping we can raise money to assist him with rent, bills, food, and a little padding. This financial support will go a long way toward taking care of someone who's spent decades taking care of others.
