Michael Summerville Memorial Fundraiser
Hello everyone,
My father, Michael Summerville, passed away too soon at the age of 55 on the morning of August 29th, 2021. He had been in and out of the hospital throughout the last decade of his life, suffering from a rare genetic condition called M.E.N. Type 1. I would have never guessed that a few months ago he would be admitted to a full-time nursing care facility, to hospice care last week, to then passing away days later.
My dad served 8 years in the Air Force, and after his military career, was a long time state worker until he had to medically retire due to his health. While his health had its ups and downs, he never let it stop him from doing what he loved most, being around the friends and family he loved so dearly. He absolutely loved being around people, and there were very few days where he wasn’t stopping by the local VFW or Legion to see friends.
Upon being admitted to the nursing care facility, whatever money he did have was drained to cover those expenses. He didn’t have plans in place to cover his funeral expenses when he died. Any assistance you are willing to give to cover the final expenses will be greatly appreciated by our family. These donations will go towards the cremation expenses, urn, flowers, and burial at the family plot beside his mother and father in western PA.
Any donations beyond these final expenses will then be donated in his name to the VFW Post 7415 with the hopes that the money can help a future veteran in need. The VFW Post 7415 has graciously offered to host the celebration of his life, and we would love to be able to repay their kindness.
