Michael Zarth's Recovery
Donation protected
Friends and Family,
Please keep Michael Zarth—husband to Nicole, father to Cooper, and firefighting hero to many—in your thoughts and prayers. While on shift at the firehouse on Friday 6/10, he was found unresponsive on the garage floor. He was quickly transported to St. Alexius Medical Center, where he was found to have multiple brain bleeds and skull fractures, which are likely due a traumatic fall onto the concrete floor. We still don’t know what happened or why he fell. He was transferred to Rush University Medical Center and admitted to the Neuro ICU.
After spending a few days minimally responsive, he is now showing small signs of improvement. However, his brain bleeds are only tenuously stable, and he certainly has a long road to recovery ahead. On top of this, Michael and Nicole are expecting Baby Boy Zarth #2 in October and are looking at enormous hospital bills, despite an inability to work. Michael will likely be in rehab for months before returning to work, and his physical ability to continue his passion as a firefighter remains unknown. Nicole is facing an upcoming maternity leave, not to mention taking time away from work to care for her husband.
The Zarths would never expect any type of financial donation. If you’re lucky enough to know them, you’ll agree that they are usually the helpers…for anyone, in any situation. The Zarths come through for us all. This GoFundMe has been set up by family simply as a resource for those who want to help in some way. Thank you for your well wishes and prayers so far. Please continue to pray for a full recovery and high spirits during the long journey head. #mzstrong
