Michael's Blessings

Donation protected

This fundraiser has been put together to support a gentleman named Michael who was fortunate enough to meet Danielle when he needed help. Since their meeting, Danielle has learned much about him and that he is an older gentleman, who finds himself alone on the holidays with nothing under his Christmas tree or much reason to celebrate. Shortly after the start of this new friendship, Danielle has observed that Michael is much need in most aspects of his life from bills, home maintenance, car services, etc. We have already started a Facebook Group to collaborate and plan to fulfill some of the more dire needs to support Michael now. If you wish to join, please find the group on Facebook entitled "Michael's Blessings" to hear how you can help be a part of these wonderful group efforts!

In an effort to make this holiday season different for him, we've decided to see how some of us here in the Roanoke area can get together to bless someone who is less fortunate in a world that is already very unsettling.

Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to give back to those here in our community. You are truly a blessing!
We thank you for being here and participating. May you all be blessed!

The story from Danielle:
A little light of happiness for your day: Long but worth reading...
The craziest but the best thing happened to me today… I was in the dollar tree right near my office on 220 in Roanoke today getting things I need for a work lunch tomorrow. All of a sudden I looked over and saw a man that was about in his 70s pass out… Long story short, I yelled for someone to get a chair, some water and something sweet (just assuming that he might be diabetic).I sat there with him for an hour and asked him numerous times if there was someone I could call to come get him because I didn’t want him driving back home… He was one of the sweetest men I’ve ever met...He has no family here and his closest relative (which is his stepdaughter) lives in Newport News... with that being said, I asked him if I could follow him home just to make sure he was OK driving and getting into his house…he welcomed me with open arms.
Got to his house and helped him into his chair...sat there for over an hour learning about his life...he attended Virginia Tech, married once and has a stepdaughter, loves to play pool..
He told me he spends thanksgiving and Christmas Day alone. He decorates but never has anything under the tree. This broke my heart into pieces.
Long story short...people are lonely...be nice...and most importantly just listen...
