Michaela Needs our Help - Pediatric Brain Cancer
Donation protected
Friends, we are asking for your help to support eight-year-old Michaela, who is starting chemotherapy to treat a cancerous brain tumor. Michaela is the light of 3rd grade at her Berkeley elementary school and a loving friend to all. Her diagnosis came after she began treatment for a pituitary lesion resulting in a rare diabetes-related condition and is now being treated for Intracranial Germinoma, a pediatric brain cancer (https://braintumorcenter.ucsf.edu/condition/germinoma).
Her mother is in shock and facing insurmountable emotional and financial costs associated with her daughter's treatment. Michaela has four hard months of Chemotherapy ahead of her, with 3 days at the hospital each month and the rest of the month at home recovering. After the 4 months of Chemotherapy, radiation will follow, which will require transport to Boston, San Diego or another state to receive Proton Beam Radiation, which is indicated for her type of pediatric brain cancer.
Funds raised will transfer to Amie Marshall, Michaela's mother and now her full-time caregiver to aid in covering:
1. Medical Expenses
2. Extended leave - Amie, Michaela's Mother will be home with Michaela full time
3. Tutoring for Michaela as she will be unable to attend school
4. Family and Individual Therapy
5. Costly treatments to address potential cognitive and physical side effects of her medical treatments such as physical therapy, OT, and neurofeedback.
Your support will help Michaela get through this while reducing her financial stress.
Michaela embodies kindness and goodness. She is the sweet angel to many including our family. We hope you'll be able to support her in this time of need.
