Michaela Watt Fundraiser

Michaela is 11 years old and loves to bake, listen to music, hit a volleyball around, and hang out with friends. She experienced a lot of headaches and sometimes threw up from the pressure in her head. In November 2018 Michaela was diagnosed with pilocytic astrocytoma (brain tumor). She had 9 hour brain surgery to remove 90% of it.

In of July 2022 she had a 2nd brain surgery to remove a ruptured cyst and more of the tumor. This surgery lasted 4 hours.

In February 2023 Michaela received a Character Trait Award of Perseverance from Liberty Chamber of Commerce and Shoal Creek Elementary for her hard work and not giving up on herself when things are difficult.

On May 10, 2023 her family found out the tumor is growing and has spread around some very important nerves in her head. She will be going under some form of treatment (chemo, fractional radiation, or surgery) to remove it.

Michaela is the daughter of Jim and Jill Watt. Jim teaches 6th grade at Eagle Heights Elementary School in the Smithville School District. He also coaches for the district. He has been a loved member of our Warrior family since 2001. Jill teaches first grade in the North Kansas City School District, where she is loved by so many. She is a former Smithville Warrior who has poured her heart into the education system for 13 years.
