Hello everyone! Michael's work family, in cooperation with Heidi (his Wife), have put together a GoFundMe drive to raise funds to help with Michael's medical expenses, bills and other financial needs as he recovers from his recent illness.
For those who are not aware of Michael's recent medical event, I will share the story with you. During the week of Feb. 12th, he had not been feeling well with a fever of 101-103 and flu-like symptoms. On Thursday night, he was rushed to the Emergency Room at Spartanburg Medical Center in Cardiac Arrest. Michael was shocked 35 times in a period of 3-4 hours and his survival of those events has been deemed by the Cardiologist as a miracle. Heidi was told that 99% of people who experience similar conditions do not survive. Michael is awaiting approval of placement of a defibrillator to keep his heart in rhythm.
If you have worked with Michael or know him personally, you know that he has a passion for making others feel loved and included. As a co-worker, I can tell you that he will jump right in, no matter the challenge, and tackle any problem he is faced with or help you with anything you cannot fix yourself. His ability to think "outside the box" is one of his greatest professional attributes and he often figures out solutions to complex issues that evoke "aha" moments with co-workers.
A story other co-workers tell about that displays his big heart is when Michael has gathered a group of co-workers in a cab for the ride back to a hotel after dinner and in the middle of an in-depth "work discussion", he paused to make sure and bring the cab driver up to speed and include him so that he would not feel left out.
100% of the money donated will go directly to Michael and Heidi to help them with medical bills and other expenses they incur while he recovers. Anything you can give will be a HUGE BLESSING to Michael, Heidi and the boys and it will be one less thing they will have to worry about so that he can focus on getting the rest he needs to get back to better than ever before!
