Michael Craft EAGLE Service Project
Donation protected
Dear Family/Friend,
As you may know, I have been in Scouting since the age of 8, when I started as a Wolf in Cub Scouts, eventually earning the highest achievement - the Arrow of Light award. After seven years of scouting, I am now working with Troop 1478 in Cypress, Texas to earn the highest honor in Boy Scouts, the rank of EAGLE. One of my final requirments to earn Eagle rank is to do an Eagle Service project. An Eagle Service project requires me to plan out a project, recruit volunteers, acquire the materials, and act as the leader of the project.
My project wil benefit the BARC Animal Shelter & Adoptions in Houston, TX. At BARC "Our goal is to provide animal control and care services that minimize fear, pain, stress and suffering to animals in and out of the shelter and we work to ensure safe and healthy human-animal interactions. We work closely with the City of Houston Police Department and Houston Animal Control to respond to animal cruelty and abuse reports, behavioral complaints, dog bite cases and animal/gang related issues. .... BARC's greatest desire is for every animal that comes into our care to find a new, loving home." My project is to help beautify the adoption area by laying new sod in the dog runs (approximatly 700sq yards). When families come to adopt dogs they are taken to the dog runs to play and bond with the dog to see if that dog is the proper fit for their family. Right now when it rains the dog runs get really muddy, so it does not always work for the families to get good bonding time. My project will benefit BARC by helping to facilitate more happy adoptions avoiding the loss of dog lives. I started my project planning in May 2015, after volunteering 18 hours myself at the shelter and seeing the needs. I hope to have it completed by the end of October 2015 - any later in the year and it will be too cold to lay sod.
In order to make my project a reality, I am asking for the financial support of family and friends. I have been able to negotiate pricing and material donations and have estimated that the cost of my project to be about $1995.00 . If you are willing and able to donate to my project, I would be greatly appreciative and very happy. Any amount, even $1, would help me complete my project and ultimately earn my EAGLE rank in Scouting - while helping dogs in need find a loving home. I will also be donating my personal funds earned through my pet-sitting business, so I do understand sacrifice and appreciate yours on behalf of this worthy cause.
You can also donate by check. Please make the check out to Troop 1478 and mail to 16018 Lower Lake Dr. Cypress, TX 77433.
Contact me: [email redacted]
NOTE: I will update this site periodically to let you know how the project is progressing. I will close the donations once the amount is raised. Any funds I do not use will be donated directly to BARC .
