Our friend and colleague, Michael Lambe passed away from a heart attack on Sunday May 9th, 2016; he was 53 years old.
Mike was originally from Colorado, where he graduated from Colorado State University in 1985 with a degree in Economics. Following his graduation he entered the world of finance spending his first years at Dain Bosworth Inc. and Sherwood Securities. In 1991 Mike joined Piper Jaffray where he was a Market Maker and stock trader for almost 5 years. In 1996 Mike moved to Solomon Smith Barney, which became part of Citigroup in 1998. It was then Mike was made Head of the U.S. OTC Retail Equity Desk, supervising a team of 9 traders, executing orders for over 13,000 brokers and portfolio managers. In 2000 Mike moved to London to lead and manage the expansion of the UK and European Retail Equity Desk for Citi. In 2002 Mike joined INTL FCStone, where for the next 14 years he was the Head of the UK Securities Desk, responsible for sales and trading in European Equity and Fixed Income Trading.
Mike was a kind man, at times he could be a bit too kind. He always put others before himself and would do anything for a friend. He was a loving husband to his wife Sylvia, and a proud and devoted father to his young son Connor and step son Josh.
We are all very lucky to have known Mike, work with him, and have been his friend. Though he would never ask for it, we wish to contribute to his memorial fund in support of his family. Thank you
