My Brothers Addiction Recovery
Donation protected
My younger brother Michael, who is 28, has been struggling with drug addiction for 7 + years now. It was a long while before my family discovered this and we were surprised and saddened by this news.
Within the last year and a half my brother has come to my family asking for help. Telling us that he doesn't want to lead this life anymore, but he knows that he can't do it alone.
Asking for help is a big step for anyone, but after so many years of being an addict it has not been easy for him to get on the right path with this recovery. We have had many setbacks with this process. We have tried various outpatient programs, but the world outside provides to be too big of a temptation for him. He has come to that realization on his own and he as well as all of us feels that an in-patient facility will give him the best route to recovery. I DO believe at last my brother is fully committed to wanting and accepting help.
His current situation has him in the local county jail where he has been mandated to get into a residential treatment center by the start of 2016. Due to good behavior he has been allowed to get on work release while "living" in the jail.
Work release is where you are allowed to get out of jail and work during the day. Your job location is accountable for you throughout the day, and when your shift is over your head right back to jail. The money he makes goes towards "rent" for staying at the jail, and daily allowed essentials.
We have been in contact with a residential facility and we have high hopes that he can possibly obtain a spot in the facility in early to mid January of 2016.
This facility is an in-house treatment center where they will provide him a home to live, three meals a day, treatment classes for his addiction as well as counseling, and NA/AA (narcotic) meetings.
He will be away from the outside world of which he knows for a year during this process. While he is there the faculty will decide when he is ready to learn a trade (for work) for when he has achieved full recovery and is out of the facility.
In order to get into this treatment center it will cost $6,000, upon acceptance.
The $6,000 will cover room, board, and daily essentials provided to him by the facility.
Additional money will be needed now for what will be his current expenses that he is occurring while in jail.
For example: taxi rides to work and back to jail, getting clothes cleaned weekly, and meals during the day while at work, etc..
Thank you for your consideration in helping my brother out with this cause to help him get away from his addiction and go back to the happy and healthy life he used to know.
Any help will be appreciated, and if you can't help out at this time prayers are always accepted.
Thank you,
Michelle (sister)
