Donation protected
Our beloved friend Michele has been courageously fighting breast cancer for the past three years. While she's had moments of hope, unfortunately, the cancer keeps coming back even stronger. Recently, it has progressed to Stage 4 metastatic.
Michele has always been a vibrant, generous soul to those around her. However, her life has been completely upended by this diagnosis. We're reaching out to ask for your support in funding her extensive treatment plans and alternative therapies that insurance doesn't cover. Michele has shouldered her medical expenses thus far, but some treatments remain out of reach financially.
Your contribution, regardless of size, will significantly impact Michele's well-being during this challenging time. Your donations won't just assist with uncovered medical treatments but also with her daily living expenses, including medication.
We're committed to doing everything possible for Michele. Please help this beautiful soul by spreading the word among your family and friends. Your love and support mean the world to Michele, and she's eternally grateful for your kindness.
Quarterly update:
Immediately upon finishing chemo last May Michele had an expiring opportunity for reconstructive surgery so she went for it. To say the least, it was grueling. Not only did it involve the breast incision, but an incision was made hip to hip across her abdomen to harvest fat, skin, and blood vessels. The surgery was successful cosmetically although recovery remains slower than expected. Fortunately, the end of July brought a clear CT scan that put some pep in her step.
Unfortunately, this would only be temporary. In the words of her primary care physician: “That’s the scary part about this type of breast cancer—it can change so quick.”. A follow-up PET scan was ominous. “It appears your cancer has spread to the ribs, lumbar spine, and pelvis” “also the liver” “possibly the right lung as well”. A liver biopsy is being scheduled now. Hopefully, the lung issue appears to be an infection, that is being cleared up with antibiotics.
So where are we now? She just started “eight cycles of chemotherapy (Enhertu) that will last through January 2025” (at minimum). She will also be traveling back and forth to MD Anderson in Houston for “second opinions and trial options”.
This entire process has been absurdly expensive. Adding Houston into the mix is going to make it even more so.
Again, thank you for your support…it means the world to Michele.
