Michelle Hernandez's Battle Fund

As some of you may or may not know know , my sister Michelle was recently diagnosed with Cancer.  Michelle is a hard working, spunky, happy go lucky person, full of life and loved and respected by many.  She is a great mother of 2, grandmother of 4, a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt , loving niece and friend. Michelle has a heart of gold and is a very giving person who supports anyone in need  and that includes stray animals.

After multiple doctor visits to different specialist, several test and biopsies, she received the news that she had cancer.  Michelle was diagnosed with Waldenstrom's Macroglobulinemia Lymphoplasmacytic Lymphoma, a rare form of cancer.  Although she had been having strange and unexplainable health issues we did not expect to be cancer.  Over the past few months we have been doing our best to deal with medical issues with our mother, to trying to plan a normal christmas, to now dealing with what to expect, treatment planning, possible side effects and many unknowns of this whole process.  It is all scary and incredibly sad.

The inital shock of the diagnosis has set in and now comes the hard part of fighting this battle.  Michelle met with her Oncologist and they're team at Contra Costa Oncology in Walnut Creek and they are very positive about her prognosis. The first stage of the battle plan is Chemo.  Michelle has has 2 two treatments this week and will continue this for the next 8 weeks.  Through the course of the treatment she will likely experience fatigue, nausea, depression, hair loss and other side effects.  Along with the emotional struggle, she and her husband will be dealing with many doctor appointments, doctor bills and other medical expenses that are not covered by insurance.

On behalf of my sister, I am reaching out to all of my friends and family near and far for your finacial support to help my sister durring this difficult time.  Any help no matter how little it may be, would be greatly appreciated.  I would have never thought in a million years that I would have to use this site, but Michelle and her husband Rick will be taking alot of time off of work to get through this battle, so I created this page with that in mind.  Out of pocket medical expenses, traveling and lodging as well as day to day expenses should be the least of they're worries.  Even if a donation is not possible at this time please feel free to share this page and send prayers and positive thought to Michelle and her family!  We have faith that with the love of God, all of your prayers and helping hands she will overcome this battle.
